British & American Book Covers

There are so many little differences between England & America. Even the way our books look is different.

In my experience the American copies tend to have smaller writing & less pages... so they look shorter, but are actually harder to read. I like the bigger print in British copies, it keeps me turning pages.

And sometimes the covers are really different. What is it about our respective countries, for example, that has the English learning about their Diamond Queen, while we're busy getting to know The Real Elizabeth? And we'd like to see her smiling, thank-you-very-much.

Although maybe the gap will continue to close. After all, we are in the middle of the second British invasion (Downton Abbey! Kate Middleton! Sherlock! That Royal baby!)

And we are often reading the same books. They just look a bit different.

    1. Ah, a Childers classic. (:

And that's a perfect example of the British bigger print/thicker book.
The American copy of that book is tiny.
